Special Gifts for Mother’s Day to Show Her Love
Hello Friends,
I am so excited to share with you some special gifts for Mother’s Day to show her love! It is just so special to celebrate your mom and to be celebrated as a mother yourself. Motherhood is both an amazing gift to cherish forever, and an exceptional challenge that we get to meet every day. I read recently that we will know our children for most of their lives as adults, so we should try to cherish every moment while they’re little. When we’re engrossed in the throws of mothering young children with diaper changes or potty training, feedings, cleaning, and play and all of the beautiful moments that happen in all of that; the time seems to fly by, with cherishing these times being pushed to the back of our minds. That doesn’t mean we don’t try to be present and soak up every precious moment. It means there are so many precious moments amidst all our effort that despite our best efforts, we can’t possibly remember them all. For Mother’s Day this year, or any day you feel like showing your mom a little bit of love, here are some ideas that will create new memories or cherish old ones, that will bring her joy for years to come.

1. Family photos. This is such a beautiful time of year to take some family pictures especially outdoors. You could make a picnic to have after the photo session if you want, and your mother will have another memory to go with the sweet photos.
2. A locket with pictures of her children inside, or another piece of jewelry that reminds her of her children, such as a necklace or charm bracelet with her children’s birthstones on it. This is a lovely present because she will be able to wear it and think of her children whenever she looks at it.
3. Letters from her children about favorite memories they have with her. This is one that would be equally lovely from young children just able to write, or older children that can elaborate more about their memories.
4. Planting a flower garden together rather than just buying her cut flowers. This is such a sweet gift because you can plant a cutting garden so she can bring fresh flowers into the house whenever they are blooming. Or she can just admire them in the garden and she’ll be reminded of the nice time you had together planting it with her.
5. Taking a hike or a walk as a family with no technological distractions. Often times the sweetest gifts of all are the times you give freely without distraction. Some of the fondest memories I have with my grandparents are the times they took to just go on a walk with me. We sometimes talked and other times we just quietly admired the beauty around us. Those are the most beautiful and simple memories to make.

6. Children writing stories or poetry for mom. This is not only adorable but can be really funny for everyone to look back at together if the children writing it are young and still have quite the imagination. I love to see what words they use to make end rhymes for lines of poetry.
7. Handprint or footprint paintings. This is an oldie but a goodie for really young children. Use their handprints or footprints to make a picture or a part of a picture. You might use a ring of tiny handprints to form a wreath for instance.
8. A mug with a favorite family photo on it. We all seem to have a favorite mug for tea or coffee, why not see if you can gift your mom a new favorite mug with a family photo on it to make her smile while she is having her tasty drink.
9. A distraction free family meal. This is along the same lines as a family hike or walk, but it can last for hours if you’d like. This could be fun if it is cooked together as well. Make some of your mom’s favorite foods, turn on some background music, light some candles, make some dessert too if you would like, and sit down for a leisurely meal as a family. and enjoy.
10. A family game night. This is a great time! It is pretty self explanatory. choose a game or a few games and grab some drinks and snacks and have a good time together. A couple of our favorites are Yatzee and Mad Gab.
11. A good old fashioned photo album or picture frame for multiple photos that you fill for her. Physical photo albums and pictures on the wall are the best way to decorate your home because if a picture is worth a thousand words, you’re filling your home with thousands of words that are the stories of your life. It is those stories are what make your house a home.

Motherhood is such a beautiful and challenging adventure that will shape and grow a woman in the most amazing ways. It truly is worth celebrating. I hope you enjoyed this short list of ideas for special gifts for Mother’s Day that will make her feel loved. And I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating Mother’s Day!
Your Friend,
Amanda
