10 of the Best Meaningful Gifts for Spouses

Dear Friends,

Today I am sharing my final gift list for the season. This time I am sharing my list of ten meaningful gifts for spouses. Each one of these ideas is near and dear to my heart, and because time is the most precious gift that I believe can be given, most of these gifts are free but do require you giving your spouse the gift of your time.

1. The first gift idea I have is a love letter scavenger hunt. In this hunt you will write a series of love letters and hide them around your bedroom or perhaps your entire house, it is up to you. You give the spouse the first letter and at the bottom will be the clue to find the next letter and this will go on until all the letters are found.

2. The second gift idea I have is a dreaming date. This is a date that is less focused on romance but is more focused on setting goals and dreaming about where you will be in 1, 3, 5, 10, and 15 years. This could turn into a logistic goal setting time as well but try to dream like you did when you first got together.

3. The third gift idea I have is a game night together just the two of you. Sometimes time can get the best of us and we forget to continue to have fun with each other. This is a way to rekindle that fun loving spirit that you probably shared when you were dating.

4. The fourth gift idea that I have is to have a listening night or nights. It could be one night divided in half, or two nights – one for each of you. There would be a nice dinner arranged and a nice drink to follow like coffee or tea or cocoa to talk over. In this night one spouse talks and is loved and feels heard and not judged and the other spouse listens. It could be a night where the talking spouse is venting or dreaming or just wanting to share funny videos they saved to share and laugh with their spouse over.

5. The fifth gift idea I have is a date night. It could be traditional like dinner and a movie, or it could be your spouses favorite activity like a hike or a bike ride, or something expensive like a comedy show or concert.

6. The sixth gift idea I have is a recreation of your first date or a date that was particularly meaningful.

7. The seventh gift idea I have is to give your spouse a massage. This act is freely and spontaneously given, but it is so sweet to be intentional and have an oil handy to use for a nice massage, it could be sweet almond oil with a nice essential oil added for scent, light candles, have some nice massage tools handy if you’d like such as a head massager. Remember this isn’t a professional massage you do not have to be perfect, it is just a way for you to give your spouse attention via touch.

8. The eighth gift idea I have is a night for them: wear the outfit they like the most on you and fix your hair and makeup the way they like it most, wear their favorite perfume. Make their favorite meal with them because cooking together is so much fun, listen to their favorite music while you are cooking. Watch a movie after dinner that they really like or want to see, snuggle up with them like you would have when you were first dating. Really look at them and into their eyes when you’re on this date at home, enjoy their smile and just take in every moment. Sometimes it is the simple things that bring the most joy and leave us with some of the best memories.

9. My ninth gift idea is a love letter read aloud. It can be difficult to write down our feelings especially knowing what we write will be read. That might be all you can do which is a lovely gift. But it can be even more special for you to write a love letter to your spouse and read it aloud to them. This can be such a wonderful gift especially if you have been married for some time because we can fall into patterns of normalcy and forget that while we are each a half of a whole, we are also two separate individuals that need to be reminded occasionally of how much we mean to each other and how much we are loved.

10. My tenth and final gift idea is some form of a mixed tape. This present is an oldie but a goodie, music is called food for the soul for a reason. I realize calling it a mixed tape sounds funny but with there being so many mediums to listen to music on, everyone seems to have a preference so you’ll have to cater to your spouses preference. It could be an actual mixed tape if they have a cassette player and enjoy using it, it could be a CD, a playlist made on a streaming platform, or some other form of getting the songs to them like on a thumb drive so they can put it on their computer and listen to it however they would like.  It is very special to make someone a list of songs you think they would like or that makes you think of them. It could be songs for a specific purpose too, maybe they enjoy a specific type of exercise and you could make a playlist to go with their workout complete with warm up and cool down songs.

Those are all the meaningful gift ideas I have for your spouse for this Christmas season. I hope you enjoyed this meaningful gift series as much as I enjoyed writing it. I am wishing you a beautiful and joyful Christmas and holiday season with your family and friends. May you cherish every moment you are together.

Your Friend,

Amanda
